About World Heritage Atlas

World Heritage Atlas is an independent, data-led guide to every property on the UNESCO World Heritage List — where it is, when it was inscribed and why.

The atlas lists every cultural, natural and mixed property inscribed on the World Heritage List, with the year of inscription, the selection criteria, the States Parties, the area and the location.

Facts come from Wikidata, the free knowledge base, where each property is identified by its official World Heritage reference number. The List of World Heritage in Danger is checked against the public list as of 2026.

Short explanations of the ten selection criteria are our own plain-English summaries; for the binding wording, see the Operational Guidelines published by the World Heritage Centre.

This is an independent catalogue. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Petit Futé guidebooks or their publisher, nor with UNESCO or the World Heritage Centre.
